Current MITSG research includes writing software tools for use in the design of ships; building hardware and writing software for surface and underwater marine autonomous robots; and writing software to model important ocean phenomena such as ocean inundation, ocean acidification and carbon sequestration. Responsibilities will include developing integrated frameworks for the prediction of multidisciplinary performance of complex marine systems; investigating the applicability of the most modern machine learning tools for the design and analysis of complex marine systems in different operating conditions; and developing a rigorous framework for uncertainty quantification and risk analysis that will be integrated in the predictive framework developed using machine learning techniques on the basis of predictive data coming from multifidelity simulations. Primary coding will be in Python. CFD analysis will be in OpenFOAM or equivalent open-source software.
Job Requirements
