The Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a key partner in the ground breaking LCR 4.0 Project. Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the project has already supported over 200 industrial organisations to help them increase productivity and improve competitiveness through the development of smarter products, processes and supply chains by adopting Industry 4.0 technologies.

We currently have a highly motivated team responsible for the delivery of the LCR 4.0 programme. As part of the team, we are seeking an Industrial Funding Officer (0.4 FTE) who will be responsible for identifying and developing funding and investment opportunities and brokering commercial partnerships for research and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a project that has national recognition, and has been acknowledged as one of the top 100 digital champions by the Financial Times (Dec. 2018). An exciting place to work, FET has expertise comprising of an in-house multi-disciplinary team of engineering and business specialists and is supported by leading academics and scientists from LJMU.

You will be a flexible, dynamic and enthusiastic individual ideally with experience of the grant funding and investment landscape, proposal writing and consortium building with excellent communication skills and fully conversant with Microsoft Office and Internet Applications. You will join a multidisciplinary team focusing on working closely with SMEs and the research base within the University to enhance productivity and develop and implement strategies to stimulate the development of new products through innovation practices. Reporting to the Strategic Manager responsible for the project, you will also be required to support the activities of the wider team, and have the ability to work using your own initiative.

You should have relevant experience of writing research grant proposals and developing investment opportunities in engineering or a closely related subject.

The post is part-funded by ERDF as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme. The post is 0.4 FTE and fixed term until 30th September 2019.

The hub will be further strengthened by a new Manufacturing Technology Centre to build knowledge and understanding about the manufacturing technologies.
