We are seeking a Project Manager/Business Engagement Officer for an Interreg Europe funded Materials in Medicine network (MATMED).

The consortium consists of academics and companies with the primary aim to enhance the innovation performance of enterprises throughout NW Europe in the area of “Advanced Materials for Regenerative Medicine and Medical Devices in Contact with the Human Body”.

Many products are slow to enter the market due to various barriers preventing speedy translation and commercialisation including lack of specific skills and characterisation especially within SMEs and the changing regulatory framework for Medical Devices in the EU.

MATMED aims to facilitate trans-national collaborations to allow products to reach TRLs 4-5 and 6-7 and attract further funding, ultimately helping innovative solutions reach the market.

The post will support the development of interactions between biomedical materials industry and relevant academics in the School of Materials to facilitate the above. Duties will include supporting colleagues in generating income and research opportunities with industry, supporting the development of relationships with partner organisations, provide support and advice to Faculty researchers on industrial interactions and to promote the resources and expertise of the Faculty to external organisations.

You will be educated to postgraduate degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject such as biomaterials or biomedical engineering and have proven successful experience in project management. You should have an understanding of higher education and academic administration, knowledge of the interface between higher education and research sponsors (particularly industry), along with knowledge of research funding mechanisms. You will also have strong communication, organisation, influencing and interpersonal skills.
