Following the retirement of our current Head of School we are seeking an inspirational leader for our School of Pharmacy. The successful post-holder will be a member of the College of Science Management Team, which is comprised of Heads of School, and other senior academic and professional services staff, and will report directly to the PVC/Head of College. Pharmacy is a strategically important element of the University and College plans and is expected to continue to thrive as we develop the Lincoln School of Medicine and a range of other healthcare provision.  

The School runs an innovative and successful fully accredited MPharm programme, with nationally leading outcomes in terms of achieving first in the National Student Survey 2018 for both programmes, tremendous success with the NHS Oriel Pre-registration scheme resulting in 100% employability for our MPharm graduates, and an emphasis on patient based learning. The School made a strong contribution to REF2014 and has established and growing research groups in pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences. The new Head will lead the School and play a key role in shaping its future in line with the University’s and College’s broader strategies. The Head will be responsible for ensuring excellence in external assessments such as the REF, TEF and NSS, developing the School’s portfolio of programmes, including a PGT portfolio, maintaining and building new academic and research partnerships, coordinating and facilitating its research and income generation activities, as well as enhancing the national and international reputation of the School. 

The post would suit someone who would relish an opportunity to make a difference in an ambitious institution, and to take the School to the next level in its development. We are looking for a candidate with experience of leadership within pharmacy and applications are particularly welcomed from those whose research interests fit broadly within our existing research areas or who has a strong track record in leadership of excellent and innovative pharmacy teaching. The post may attract professorial status for suitably qualified applicants.
