Role Description

We are seeking a science communication officer to work with our research teams to generate information and engagement opportunities for a variety of non-academic audiences. Here at Cranfield, we offer you the opportunity and resources to develop your career in an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management.

Within the Cranfield Water Science Institute, you will work closely with staff and partner organisations to deliver print and online material which informs, educates, and enthuses. The post will offer you a superb opportunity to broaden and deepen your skills by working across a range of disciplines and sectors. Your contributions will influence thinking, practice, and policy amongst a variety of stakeholder groups.

You will have a first or second class degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant topic or have equivalent experience, and a postgraduate qualification or equivalent, preferably in Science Communications or Science Media Production is desirable. A developing portfolio of print and digital science communication examples will be expected. The role will include authoring content for short articles, blogs, press releases, etc. using primary science output materials, maintaining social media feeds, creating web sites, and collaborating on outreach initiatives with academic and industry partners in the UK and abroad. You will be a confident and articulate communicator with a broad understanding of and interest in science and technology.

For an informal discussion, please contact Dr Pablo Campo Moreno, Lecturer in Applied Chemistry, on +44 (0)1234 75 4332 or (E); P.Campo-Moreno@cranfield.ac.uk

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.

Interviews to be held:  20 February 2019
