A new opportunity has been created within the Careers+Placements team at Aston University for a Trainee Careers Consultant reporting in to the Head of Careers. This role will be an opportunity to gain practical careers advice, information and guidance experience whilst studying for a professional CEIAG qualification.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience of working in a student or recruitment support capacity, ideally with knowledge of the Higher Education sector or recruitment practices. It would also be beneficial if you could demonstrate an understanding of some of the changes and challenges university careers services and or the sector in general are currently facing.

The role will be broadly supporting all undergraduate students in 121 appointments but with a particular focus on Engineering and Business School students for targeted activities by working closely with the Careers Consultants that link to those schools to jointly develop and deliver curriculum content. With particular responsibility for providing high quality information and advice in response to queries from students and graduates coupled with providing support to projects and events, including delivery of webinars, central workshops and one to many services this will be a varied and exciting role.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good IT skills and the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative. The successful candidate will be confident working unsupervised in the main, able to prioritise their work and plan in a methodical and organised way, often working to tight deadlines at pace.

If you have passion for a career supporting students and the drive to succeed we’d like to hear from you so please complete the application form to be considered. CVs and cover letters will not be accepted.

For further information about the role please direct any informal enquires to Julie Stonall, Head of Careers on 0121 204 4832 or email
