Applications are invited for appointment as Scientific Officer (SO)/Research Officer (RO)/Research Assistant Professor (RAP)/Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in Big Data in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 493879), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis for SO/RO/RAP, or on a two-year temporary basis for PDF.
Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D. Sc., or equivalent) in statistics, computer science, computer informatics, engineering or analytics-related disciplines. They should have a strong academic background in advance data analytics with demonstrated experience in analysis of Big Data (for structured data, unstructured data, multimedia data); be familiar with a variety of predictive models used in machine learning; and be familiar with the software and programming tools that are widely used in data analysis (e.g. SPSS, SQL, SAS, R, python, tensorflow, etc) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc). They should also have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Those with relevant post-doctoral work experience and an excellent publication track record may be considered for appointment as RAP.
The appointee will work for the Jockey Club SMART Family-Link Project, with the aims to promote family well-being by leveraging Information and Communications Technology for innovative family services. He/She will perform advanced data analytics to identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in Information and Communications Technology behaviors for family services, write scientific publications, assist in writing reports, and perform other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointments on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for SO/RO/RAP. For SO/RO, housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
