Position Description

The objective of the Asisa Fellowship is to enhance the international clinical research capacity by fostering the training of investigators with the necessary expertise to address critical public health issues. The emphasis of the Fellowship will be on the use of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced causal inference methods to produce valid and relevant evidence from real world databases.

The postdoctoral fellow will enter a mentored research program to develop the knowledge and skills needed for clinical research. The fellow will be eligible for one or two years of salary support and will hold an appointment at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology. The fellow will be based in Boston, Massachusetts and will work full-time conducting research projects supervised by faculty in the Epidemiology Department. The Program will select a mentor for each fellow who best matches his/her needs, areas of interest and career goals. These mentors specialize in issues ranging from advancement of methods to a wide variety of clinical areas.

Under the guidance of the mentors, fellows are expected to concentrate on their own research projects, as well as to become involved in ongoing projects. The project(s) may involve designing and implementing a study, or developing new methodology. All fellows are expected to analyze datasets independently, present and defend the results in public, produce reports with their findings, and lead at least one publishable manuscript.
