Research Technician, Department Of Psychology and Neuroscience
The Marsh Lab at Duke University seeks a motivated and detail-oriented recent graduate to join o our research team as a Research Technician II. The lab is broadly focused on human memory; this position will focus on an NIH-funded project examining how social context supports remembering in older adults, as well as completing a U.S. D Department of Education study on learning from essay-writing.
This position’s responsibilities will include:
- Recruiting, scheduling and testing undergraduates and older adult community volunteers
- Handling IRB applications and renewals
- Developing experimental materials (stimuli creation and programming)
- Data processing, coding, and analysis
- Supervising undergraduate lab assistants
- Assisting with papers and grant submissions
- Administrative responsibilities (e.g., room scheduling, handling petty cash, approving time cards, ordering s cards, ordering supplies)
This position would be an excellent way for someone to acquire research experience prior to applying to grad applying to graduate school as the lab manager may earn authorship on posters and papers. The ideal candidate would have: (1) A BA or BS in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or a related field (2) Past research experience in a psychology lab (3) Experience with qualtrics, excel, powerpoint, and SPSS or R (4) Knowledge of the IRB process (5 process (5) Experience with MTurk data collection (6) A demonstrated work ethic with attention to detail The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal based on continuation of grant support and succ and success in the position.
