The ANU College of Science (CoS) comprises: the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics and Engineering, and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. RSAA is the leading research school in Australia in the field of astronomy and astrophysics, and has been ranked in the top-10 in the world in space science. The School has world-class staff and students, and an exceptional track record in academic publishing, teaching, and funding. The vibrant and diverse astronomical research community at RSAA has access to a broad array of facilities, including optical telescopes operated by ANU at Siding Spring Observatory (AAT 4m, ANU 2.3m, SkyMapper 1.3m, UKST 1.2m) and radio telescopes (ATCA, Parkes, ASKAP, MWA). ANU is a partner in the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) project and Australia is a strategic partner of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), an arrangement that provides access to all ESO telescopes at Paranal and La Silla. RSAA has access to excellent computational facilities through the National Computational Infrastructure supercomputers, as well as in-house compute clusters. RSAA develops sophisticated astronomical and space hardware in the state-of-the-art facilities at our Advanced Technology and Instrumentation Centre.
The School Manager will be responsible for working closely with the School Director to lead and manager the School's administration team. You will be responsible for the provision of strategic advice to the Director, as well as providing direction to staff, students and visitors in relation to finance, student administration and human resources, international and national recruitment, marketing and communications, and engagement with government, business and community sector stakeholders while contributing significantly to College and University level planning.
This position will be based at the picturesque Mount Stromlo Observatory, which offer spectaulare views, free parking and a unique working enviroment.
If you have extensive demonstrated experience in management in a comparable institution and a track record in the supervision of staff, along with the capacity to build and lead teams we would love to hear from you.
