The University of Manchester at Harwell wishes to increase its capacity in the area of data analytics. We are offering a prestigious postion in the area of developing techniques to enable novel analysis of the data streams from the national facilities at Harwell. The position is for an initial 5 year period and is a joint venture between the University of Manchester and the Ada Lovelace Centre, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) at Harwell.
You will be appointed jointly, by the School of Computer Science (SCS) and the University of Manchester, at Harwell (UoMaH), together with STFC. You will be based and operationally managed, at the Harwell campus by the Director UoMaH and be affiliated to the School of Computer Science, where you will also have an academic line-manager. Your work will be split between developing software infrastructure to enable novel data analytics research, and building a network of users and facilities at the Harwell neutron and light sources who are developing techniques using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to interrogate the big data streams generated by the National Facilities at Harwell. This will facilitate the development of multidimensional techniques that will accelerate research activity and outputs across many areas, through the automation of the data processing.
Please note that interviews will be held very shortly after the closing date, and you will be invited to give a 10 minute presentation: “Outline your proposed approach to developing software infrastructure and data engineering techniques to enable current and future research using the Harwell Neutron and Light Sources”.
