SUPERVISOR, MAIL SERVICES, Facilities-Mail Services, to supervise a medium-sized workforce to accomplish the established goals of MIT’s Mail Services Department. Will identify and analyze problems, processes, and procedures and take appropriate action to correct, improve, and/or modify. The primary focus will be to gain efficiency, improve customer service, develop employees, and promote a professional work environment. Responsibilities include working with other supervisors to schedule and coordinate all employee shifts and work assignments (e.g., pickup and delivery of inbound/outbound/interdepartmental mail, processing bulk mail, and shipping and receiving of goods), including cross functional areas of Facilities when appropriate; providing daily direction and supervision to mail and shipping/receiving teams and assisting the workforce with identifying and implementing continual improvement practices; training employees on procedures and operations; evaluating attendance and performance and taking appropriate corrective action, including discipline; maintaining personnel production data, analyzing and producing reports on individual and group progress and customer feedback; maintaining inventory of consumable and warehouse materials; developing problem solving techniques and long-range planning, including increasing revenue generated by internal customers through sales and service improvements; controlling the complete Stata dock area, including facilities, vendor, and resident activity; responding to and proactively working with customers to resolve issues and improve service; and performing other duties as needed.
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least four years’ experience in a mail/shipping/receiving organization; supervisory experience, preferably in a shipping/receiving or mail processing environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of postal regulations and procedures of private carriers; experience with MSWord, Excel, and the internet; and a valid driver’s license. Associate’s degree preferred.
Must be able to work split shifts, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
