Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Department of Surgery (Ref.: 492638), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree with a clinical background, extensive post-doctoral training, and research experience in surgery or a related field.  Those with substantial experience in grant application in mainland China are preferred.  Applicants should demonstrate the capability of research administration, coordination with collaborators and various parties, and laboratory management in the clinical setting.  They should have effective communication skills, a firm grounding in strategic planning, and the ability to multitask in a multidisciplinary environment and under immense pressure to meet tight deadlines.  They should also be highly motivated, innovative, and independent.  The appointee will provide professional support to the research activities of the Department.  He/She will assist in grant applications, promote collaboration and maintain liaison with international research institutions, supervise junior research staff, manage the laboratories, maintain laboratory safety at international standards, conduct training for laboratory staff, and provide high level administrative support to the Department.
