Salary: $145,685 - $160,500 p.a. (Level D) or $187,654 p.a. (Level E), plus 9.5% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

This position is in the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and will be located at St Vincent’s Hospital. It is expected that the successful candidate will foster the broader theme of Ageing both in psychiatry and medicine and will collaborate with other Professors active in the field of Psychiatry and Ageing more broadly to help develop an ageing research agenda across the Department, Melbourne Medical School and the Faculty.

The appointment will include up to three clinical sessions as an Old Age Psychiatrist with St Vincent’s Hospital. The Professor will report to the Chair of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry located at St Vincent’s Hospital. The academic performance reviews will be carried out jointly under the leadership of the Head of Department of Psychiatry.

The appointee to the Professor/Associate Professor of Psychiatry of Old Age will be a world-class specialist in this discipline with a commitment to research-driven, evidence-based psychiatric care. The Professor/Associate Professor will provide outstanding academic leadership to promote multi-disciplinary psychiatric care and research that will contribute to the goals of the research theme of Old Age Psychiatry to integrate high-impact research with improved clinical care and teaching.

The successful applicant will build translational research capability in Psychiatry of Old Age and produce novel research that provides evidence for changes in clinical practice, health policy and service delivery that improves psychiatric care for older psychiatric patients.
