Grade 5 - £22,659 to £26,243 per annum, dependent on experience (fixed term until 01/11/19)
The Biosciences and Chemistry technical team in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing supports a wide range of practical teaching and support for research projects. The team’s main duties include preparation of materials for under- and post-graduate practical classes, troubleshooting practical issues as they arise, demonstrating instrumentation and techniques, developing future practical classes in collaboration with academic colleagues, providing cross-team support for project students and maintenance of the site's infrastructure and logistical arrangements.
We are appointing a technician for the team who will be directly involved in practical delivery and support of the laboratory based activities, mainly but not exclusively, in the area of chemistry/analytical chemistry. The post will be responsible for providing and continuously improving all aspects of the under-graduate and post-graduate teaching program, working closely with other technical staff to achieve this.
You will have experience of a range of techniques in chemistry including inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, analytical chemistry. The post holder will have, or will be able to develop, a range of skills to allow them to work in other areas of the Biosciences and Chemistry practical delivery e.g. Biochemistry.
You should be highly motivated with a professional work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team; they should be confident and meticulous in their work and be able to work across team boundaries to ensure customer focussed results.
