The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources. The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. RMIT Studios - Learning & Teaching Design:
Learning & Teaching Design drive and operationalise the L&T innovation and transformation agenda. Through digital pedagogies, learning technology ecosystems and inspired professional development, we set priorities, drive change, and shape learning and teaching for work, life and enterprise. We support #ShapeEducation by enhancing learning and teaching, connecting, supporting and driving knowledge-driven transformation, and leading digitally-supported student experiences. We are a multidisciplinary team of designers, technologists, academic developers and program managers - strategists, partners, enablers and change agents.
RMIT's 21CC is an institution wide initiative to build and implement an innovative suite of micro-credentials, co-created with industry partners and available to students and other key stakeholders. The Senior Learning Designer will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of RMIT's 21st Century Credentials initiative by working with curriculum design teams and teaching staff to develop sustainable, accessible and high quality learning resources, activities and experiences appropriate for the discipline, incorporating evidence-based educational design principles that are consistent with RMIT's policies.
The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Senior Learning Designer will play a central role in developing sustainable and high-quality programs, microcredentials and digital learning experiences. The role will drive innovative, aligned and fit-for-purpose learning, resource and assessment design for application in contemporary educational settings.
The Senior Learning Designer will build the capability of educators, and support the transition towards enhancing online teaching and learning design practices to transform the student experience and student learning outcomes.
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful, you will have demonstrated experience in reflective online learning and teaching practice demonstrated the ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to enable evidence-based outcomes at pace and at scale. You will have a comprehensive understanding of the role technology plays in enhancing both the student experience and student outcomes. You will have extensive experience in leading design, delivery and evaluation of capability building programs to drive tertiary pedagogies in active, flexible and online learning. Your demonstrated experience in managing learning design projects and driving best practice strategies through role accountability will be key to your success in this role.
