The Research Computing Centre
The Research Computing Centre is an innovative and multidisciplinary environment that supports collaboration to facilitate discoveries in science and engineering, humanities, and social sciences, through advanced computation, data analysis and other digital research tools. The Centre enhances the University’s eResearch infrastructure, and provides support for interdisciplinary research and education.
The primary objective of the position is to contribute to the ongoing development, testing and documentation of specific project-based software as well as general purpose software tools that are part of the RCC’s mission to support UQ researchers in the use of research computing infrastructure and services.
The position will play a key role in developing algorithms and source code to meet the requirements of specific projects, as well as developing, testing and documenting softqwre for high performance computing platforms, cloud computing platforms, data storage management and user access, enhancing computational workflows, and data visualization.
The role will also work with other RCC staff, and early adopters to roll out developed tools.
Applicants should have a relevant qualification and software development experience within coursework or elsewhere. It is essential that you are proficient with programming languages, including C/C++, Python and Java. Applicants must possess a high level of oral communication skills and be comfortable discussing software design issues to team members with varying levels of software development experience

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at HEW Level 5. The remuneration package will be in the range $66,348 - $74,099 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $72,651 - $81,138 p.a.).
