QUT is an ambitious university, focused on providing an outstanding ‘real-world’ education to nearly 50,000 students. One of the nation’s fastest growing research universities, QUT achieves excellence through world-class research by delivering solutions to the challenges of today and into the future.

The Creative Industries Faculty (CIF) is the world’s first faculty of its kind. CIF is a leader in research excellence and offers a range of academic study programs from non-award courses through to post-graduate programs and research doctorates. CIF is externally focused, and undertakes research that is transdisciplinary, high-impact and draws upon the deep technological capabilities within the Faculty and beyond. Due to expansion and promotion QUT is seeking a new Head of School, School of Creative Practice to strengthen and deepen the School’s and Faculty’s capabilities and successes.

The School of Creative Practice encompasses the core discipline areas of Dance, Drama, Music, Film, Screen and Animation, Creative Writing and Visual Arts. As Head of School, you will provide leadership to the School and contribute at Faculty leadership level, supporting staff and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence across research, teaching, engagement and innovation of practice. The School has a transdisciplinary approach to research and learning and it will be important to connect creative practice with complementary research opportunities in partnership with industry.

The School includes the QUT Creative Lab, a hub at the forefront of transdisciplinary research and creative practice at QUT, leveraging digital technologies to support innovation in the creative, performing, and screen arts. With renewed curriculum, several internal promotions and large numbers of HDR students, it will be important for the new Head to build succession and capacity and inspire through their leadership.

This significant leadership role provides an outstanding career opportunity to be a part of the exciting future of CIF and QUT. The position requires an inclusive leader, with highly developed communication and organisational skills, and a demonstrated ability to engage effectively across the University and externally.
