Applications are invited for the post of Distinguished Research Professor in Ancient and Modern Fire Systems in the Department of Earth Sciences, Royal Holloway University of London, to commence no later than 1 January 2019. 

Royal Holloway Earth Sciences is ranked in the top ten of UK geoscience departments for both research and student experience. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding geoscientist with PhD qualification, strong experience in Palaeobotany and outstanding research track record in Ancient and Modern Fire Systems who will provide academic support for the Earth Sciences REF & IMPACT preparations for our REF 2021 submission in the research area of Ancient and Modern Fire Systems.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop a strong impact case study in the research area of Ancient and Modern Fire Systems in support of the Earth Sciences REF 2021 submission 
  • Prepare and contribute 4* and 3* publications in the research area of Ancient and Modern Fire Systems for inclusion in the department REF 2021 submission.
  • Promote his research, the department and college to the public through news and marketing channels

This is a part-time role (0.2FTE) for initially a 1 year period with potential for further extension of 1 more year. We seek appointment as soon as possible but not later than 1st of January 2019.

The post is based in Egham, where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
