The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute

The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute was established in 2007 as the sixth research institute of The University of Queensland. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has more than 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine

The role

The successful appointee will support research focused on understanding the pathogenesis and development of novel treatments for autoimmune type 1 diabetes using protein, molecular and immunological techniques.

The person

Applicants should possess a science degree with honours (or equivalent) in a relevant biological science. You will have practical laboratory experience in immunology, protein science and/or molecular techniques, experience handling biological specimens and understanding of basi lab safety. It would be advantageous if you had experience in proteomic sample preparation, DNA isolation and sequencing and flow cytometry.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months years at HEW Level 5. The remuneration package will be in the range $66,347.80 - $74,098.94 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $77,626.93- $86,695.76 p.a.).
