An opportunity exists to assist The University of Manchester in meeting its environmental sustainability objectives. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the University’s approach to campus wide sustainability initiatives, specifically sustainable travel and living campus. This includes supporting the delivery of environmental sustainability targets which are part of the University’s £1 billion investment to create a world-class campus for staff and students.

You will implement measures to increase the numbers of staff, students and visitors using sustainable travel methods and low carbon options for all University related journeys and will develop and promote the concept of the ‘Living Campus’ – a green, functional, biodiverse campus which supports health and well-being.

You will support the implementation of the University’s Living Campus Plan and Sustainable Resources Plan; this includes providing support on the calculation of the University’s Scope 3 emissions together with the collection of data relevant for the environmental management of the University.

You will possess an appropriate academic qualification to degree level in an environmental related discipline, or extensive experience in a similar role. You will have experience in the implementation of Environmental Sustainability related Strategies. Experience and an appreciation of issues relating to local and national transport policy, sustainable transport issues and greenspace and biodiversity is desired.
