For an ongoing, large multi-centre collaboration conducting a mixed-method, natural experiment evaluation of public health engagement in alcohol premises licensing and impact on alcohol-related harms (EXILENS), we are seeking to appoint a full-time temporary Research Associate. The post is for a 6-month period (maternity cover), commencing January 2nd 2019.
The successful candidate will work with Bristol University PI and multi-centre research team on the quantitative evaluation of whether public health engagement in licensing of local councils in England and Scotland has a measurable impact on health harms and crime rates using time series data. During the time period, the main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to lead on organising data collection and linkage of time series data, and preparation for statistical analyses as well as conducting of exploratory statistical analyses.
The successful candidate will have experience in epidemiological research methods and handling of datasets, possibly with an affinity for research of alcohol-related harms. They are expected to be responsible for their own day-to-day management, although the work will be conducted under the supervision of Dr de Vocht and regular meetings will be scheduled. Regular contact, via email or phone as well occasionally face-to-face, with the larger research collaboration are expected.
