The Obstetric Initiative (OBI) is a quality improvement initiative funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) addressing variation in obstetric care with a first initiative of supporting vaginal birth and safely lowering the cesarean delivery rate among low-risk patients.
OBI is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starter to join the team as Program Coordinator. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for engaging and building relationships with hospital representatives from the 82 Michigan maternity hospitals. These skills will also be critical as you provide program support and foster collaboration among the hospital members. The Program Coordinator will also play a vital role in the daily operations of OBI, including (but not limited to) supporting webinars, work group video conferences, hospital site visits, organizing the semiannual conferences and regional meetings, as well as managing OBI’s social media presence. Ideal candidates must be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and manage multiple projects while paying strict attention to detail and deadlines. A high level of professionalism in written and verbal communication is expected in all interactions with hospital leaders, clinicians, and payers.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day activities of OBI at the Coordinating Center under the supervision of the Program Manager and OBI Program Directors.
- Support the daily operations of OBI, including supporting webinars, work group video conferences, regional meetings, and hospital site visits
- Support the Program Manager and Clinical Site Engagement Coordinator to manage the hospitals’ OBI participation points
- Prepare key program documents, including program manuals, slide presentations, and reports
- Manage channels for correspondence with key stakeholders
- Organize, coordinate, and manage the semiannual conferences and regional meetings to ensure events run smoothly and all details are in order
- Support the OBI team and outside speakers with travel arrangements and reimbursement
- Prepare vendor contracts, including managing room and meal reservations and coordinating audiovisual equipment use
- Schedule and provide logistical support for meetings and webinars, including taking minutes, drafting and disseminating materials
- Manage the regular content for OBI’s social media presence (Twitter)
- Conduct research, including literature reviews, surveys, and data analyses, and synthesize findings
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to manage competing demands and prioritize deadlines
- Experience in a professional setting and proven ability to take initiative
- Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct, manage, and prioritize tasks, while working independently to complete assignments
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoing
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to occasionally travel as needed within the state of Michigan
- 1-2 years of work experience
- Interest in reproductive health
- Experience with event planning
- Experience with RedCap, Qualtrics, GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar
- Experience developing electronic, print, and social media communication strategies
- Familiarity with University of Michigan policies, procedures, and data systems
