Grade 9, Salary range: £51,630 - £58,089 per annum
With responsibility for leading the establishment and provision of the computational and data-intensive platforms, and nurturing expertise for their effective leverage through a credible research-focused team, the Head of Research Computing Platforms is a critical role for delivery of the significant, strategic University-wide Advanced Research Computing initiative, requiring interventions at the local through to international level, commensurate with the University’s global research aspirations.
The post-holder is expected to draw on deep technical and domain knowledge to ensure the needs of the research base are translated into informing the strategic direction of ARC, including infrastructure investments, through forming strong collegiate relationships with Academics at all levels across the organisation. The post holder will provide leadership and mentorship to colleagues within the platforms team, ensure effective knowledge transfer across the institution, and represent the University externally on matters of expertise. They will also coordinate operations within the broader context of other research computing facilities at the University and externally, where used by researchers, and plan and implement physical infrastructure deployments, working with teams in CIS, Estates and/or external providers as appropriate.
