The National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) is a leading institution in computer animation and has won the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its research and education achievements. The NCCA has conducted research of international significance and has pioneered both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Bournemouth University in computer visualisation and animation and digital effects.

The recruitment is to fill a Research Assistant position contributing to a research project, ‘VISTA-AR’ funded by the (Interreg France Channel England). This project has a specific focus to enhance visitor experience Innovation through Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies. The project aims to develop a digital content synthesis (such as 3D graphical models and 3D computer animations) and related tools for VR/AR applications.

The new post holder will bring expertise in assisting research development and solve technical problems in this project. The post holder will contribute to the digital content generation, development of graphical models, computer animation and provide key supports to the VR/AR solutions at different heritage sites, including Exeter Cathedral, UK and Fougeres Castle, France. The post holder will require skills in concept art design, 3D modelling, rigging character animation and compositing. The post will offer training opportunities and travel to France and within the UK. The post holder will assist with the daily running and management of the project. The post will be a good opportunity for a talent graduate with Art Degree in computer animation or game development or an experienced animator to move on a career in research and education. 

This post is available on a fixed-term basis until 31 January 2021.
