We are seeking an experienced Publishing Manager with big picture vision and an eye for detail to help us communicate with impact. You and will lead our publishing program and drive the content strategy for our websites. This role requires sharp editorial nous to focus on maintaining AIFS’ reputation as a trusted source of evidence about Australian families, and to translate our research content into publications for a range of audiences. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of three staff who are dedicated to publishing excellence, and work collaboratively with other Communications Team members to deliver on AIFS Communications Strategy.

Our work increases understanding about the factors that help Australian families thrive, or that are barriers to their wellbeing. We produce research about ‘what works for families’ and make it accessible to decision makers, researchers, practitioners and the general public.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer, with exceptional attention to detail. You’re a creative thinker with a highly collaborative style, and enjoy working actively as part of a team. You’ll be comfortable toggling between rolling your sleeves up to do a structural edit or a report, thinking strategically about the future of our websites, proofing short form content with quick turnaround times, planning the publications pipeline, and supervising staff. The role is responsible for planning the publishing schedule, maintaining high publishing standards, and ensuring our publications and web content strategy meet our audiences’ needs and position us to deliver on our strategic objectives.
This role is offered on either an ongoing or non-ongoing basis for an initial term of up to 18 months with the possibility of extension to a maximum term of three years.
