Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice, Probation
Social Sciences And Humanities
Grade 8 - £39,609 to £50,132 per annum dependent on experience (fixed term for 3 years)
We particularly welcome applicants from underrepresented groups
The Department of Law and Criminology is a dynamic staff group with a broad portfolio of teaching, research and scholarly activities that cut across the subject areas of law, criminology, criminal and social justice. We have recently been successful in securing additional probation training contracts from the Ministry of Justice and you will contribute to the development and delivery of the probation training programme.
You will make a substantial contribution to the development and delivery of the Community Justice Learning Framework which provides the professional qualification routes for probation officers. This will involve some elements of purely distance learning and some incorporating both online and face to face teaching at a number of locations across the north of England. Alongside this, you will be part of an academic tutor network, supporting learners in the public and private sector organisations currently providing probation services.
You must have well-developed current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues relevant to probation practice and criminal justice and experience of professional practice within the probation service or associated criminal justice agency. Good honours degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification or experience in a relevant discipline and a Professional Qualification within the field of criminal justice practice is essential.
For non-EU applicants, we are unlikely to be able to offer a certificate of sponsorship for this job (unless you are switching from a UK student visa), so you should only apply if you already have unrestricted permission to work in the UK.
