The Aerospace theme at Cranfield University has been at the forefront of aerospace technology for over 60 years, delivering multi-disciplinary solutions to the complex challenges facing the aviation industry. Within this theme, the Centre for Structures, Assembly and Intelligent Automation specialises in combining engineering and social science research to enhance the integration of people in advanced robotic and digital industrial systems, offering cutting-edge equipment and facilities in the new Aerospace Integration Research Centre. The Industrial Psychology and Human Factors (IPHF) group is a sub-team of psychologists / ergonomists who are responsible for supplying social science specialism within the Centre, and applying expertise in traditional and novel human analysis and user-centred design techniques. 

The Industrial Psychology and Human Factors (IPHF) group is seeking a post-doctoral Research Fellow for a four-year European research project that is developing collaborative human-robot systems for the manufacturing industry. This position will involve working independently and as part of the wider European team, in industrial field studies and experimental laboratory studies in the UK and Europe. 

You will be a confident and independent researcher with a PhD and good foundational knowledge in relevant social science/engineering subject(s). You will be able to demonstrate effective skills and experience in the appropriate selection of research design, data collection and analysis techniques (both qualitative and quantitative methods), and in clear dissemination of findings in good quality written reports and publications. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
