Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery (Ref.: 492557), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree with extensive post-doctoral training in the pathophysiological study of vascular diseases or a related field.  They should have at least 5 years' solid and relevant research experience in aortic medial cells using molecular approaches.  They should demonstrate their capability in research administration, the ability to work independently and in collaboration with different parties, and the ability to supervise research postgraduate students.  A good publication track record would be an advantage.  The appointee will conduct research on vascular surgery, administer research projects, assist in teaching at the postgraduate level, write scientific publications, and draft grant applications.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
