Job description

Mode:     Full-Time, Permanent

Coventry University is looking to appoint an Operations Manager for two new innovative research centres. The person we appoint will be a highly-organised professional with a proven track record of leading and managing high performance academic teams, including responsibility for managing finance, budgets and staff recruitment. The Operations Manager will provide leadership of the day-to-day operation of the Faculty Research Centres to ensure their continued sustainability including: revenue generation; team leadership; performance management; the provision of administrative support to the centres' research activity, plus developing strategic partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the sector.

This role covers two new Faculty Research Centres in The Faculty of Arts and Humanities which are: the Centre for Postdigital Cultures (CPC), which is already up and running; and the Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities (AMC), which has just launched. Both Faculty Research Centres are part of a major new initiative that builds on the strong and distinctive track record of scholars at the University encompassing a range of disciplines in the arts and humanities.

The Centre for Postdigital Cultures explores how innovations in Postdigital Cultures can enable 21st century society to respond to the challenges it faces in relation to the digital at a global, national and local level:

  • How we receive, consume and process information
  • How we learn, work, and travel
  • How we engage and regenerate our communities

The Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities will expand knowledge related to:

  • How communities reflect on their pasts and recreate their future identities
  • How individuals innovate and co-create collaboration and well-being
  • How art, stories and spaces relate/shape our individual and collective sense of belonging
  • How we engage creatively for impact and transformation.

Working across disciplines the Operations Manager will provide critical operational oversight and report directly to the Faculty Research Centres' Executive Directors. This is a key managerial role acting as chief operating officer with primary accountabilities including the day-to-day operations of the two FRCs; development and delivery of income streams to target; the management and reporting of administrative systems; finance, income and recruitment-related activity; business development and building external relationships.
