Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate to work on the project “Memory and Language: A perceptual-motor approach to verbal sequence learning”which is funded by the Leverhulme Trust.

The project investigates a novel theoretical approach to the processes supporting the learning of verbal sequences—a basic building block of language learning—where the focus is on the roles of general-purpose auditory-perceptual and motor-planning processes as opposed to bespoke memory systems.

Applicants should have, or should have submitted, a PhD in cognitive psychology or closely related discipline (e.g., speech science; cognitive neuroscience). Expertise in short-term memory or/and sequence learning or/and motor production/planning, particularly in the verbal domain, would be desirable.

This is a full-time post, available from 7 January 2018 (or as soon as possible thereafter), for a fixed term period (until 31 July 2020). The post is based in Egham, Surrey, where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance (40 min) from London.
