Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate Department of Psychology

This position will support research studies being carried out in the Language, Learning, and Cognition laboratory directed by Professor Kathy Rastle in the Department of Psychology.  These studies include a variety of investigations looking at how knowledge about words is acquired and represented.

The successful applicant will be involved in stimulus design and selection, the recruitment and testing of participants, data coding, and data analysis tasks.  These latter tasks may involve transcribing verbal responses, labelling acoustic data, and analysing reaction time and accuracy data. The successful applicant may also play a role in the dissemination, reporting, and archiving of data.  

The successful applicant should have a strong honours degree in Psychology. Some postgraduate training in Experimental Psychology or Psycholinguistics is desirable. Applicants should be familiar with methods used in experimental psychology, and should demonstrate exceptional organisation and attention to detail.  They should have a demonstrable interest in the processes that underpin language and reading, and should have personal characteristics appropriate for interactions with volunteer participants and other lab members.  This post may involve some out of hours or overnight work to support on-going studies investigating the role of sleep in language learning. 

This is a half-time (0.50 FTE) post for 12 months in the first instance.  The post is available from 7 January 2019.  This post is based in Egham, Surrey, where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
