An exciting opportunity for an experienced academic to play a key leadership role in representing our four nations’ agenda and opportunities

The School of Health, Wellbeing and Social Care (HWSC), one of three schools within the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education & Language Studies, delivers high quality teaching in nursing, social work and health and social care, via a strong external, partnership focus. We are committed to transforming lives through health and social care education and research, and our practice focussed curriculum is delivered through a four nation infrastructure with a strong focus on meeting the local and national needs of the health, social care and social work workforce.

We are looking to recruit an Associate Head of School – Nations to help shape and develop the school’s work to fulfil its mission across the four nations of the UK. You will lead on all matters relating to the activity of the School across the four nations, encompassing the leadership of seven nation-based teams of academic and academic related staff. You will be a member of the School’s senior management team, and will be the main point of contact between the four nations and the central teams for the school.  You will represent the school at faculty and university level on nation matters, and contribute to strategic planning and decision making for the school.

The role is ideally suited to someone who is an experienced academic with either a recognised professional qualification in Nursing/Social Work or relevant academic experience in health and social care. You will have excellent leadership and management skills, and be able to operate strategically and with operational focus. Regular travel will be required to the OU’s nations’ offices.
