Role Description

Cranfield is the UK’s only specialist postgraduate university in technology and management. A global leader for education, we welcome over 10,000 people each year to our master’s, executive and professional development programmes. With over 1500 staff, we have been awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award for gender equality in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) and are a working families employer member 2018/19.

Information Services are recruiting for a Systems Analyst/Developer to join a small team tasked with delivery of and support for continuous improvement of our student experience and administrative practices via essential developments in Tribal SITS:Vision, our student record system, and associated technologies.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and programming workflows within the system to streamline and automate business processes achieved through software analysis
  • Planning, developing and execution of new functionality and integrations
  • Creating specifications required for data structures
  • Analysis of new software opportunities
  • Evaluating outcomes and modifying the applications as required
  • Communicating complex concepts with a diverse audience, liaising with staff at all levels in order to turn business requirements into high quality products.

You will have demonstrable experience of delivering bespoke systems within complex programmes: developing and maintaining complex databases, an understanding of data relationships, enhancing functionality, applying technical upgrades to customised systems, as well as displaying an in depth working knowledge of SQL, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript and JQuery.

However, this could also be an opportunity for anyone wishing to build a career as a Systems Analyst/Developer in a junior role initially: working within a supportive team you could be allocated a mentor who you will work closely with to support you and develop your skills. You must have enthusiasm and a demonstrated capability for problem solving, developing new competencies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and work well in a team.

For an informal discussion, please contact Claire Gale, Student IS Manager, on (T); +44 (0)1234 754931 or (E); c.a.gale@cranfield.ac.uk.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.
