The University of Bristol is looking to appoint a Research Associate to join Professor Emma Raven’s group in the School of Chemistry.

The project is focussed on understanding the role of heme and heme proteins in controlling ion channel function. The project involves heme protein expression and structural work at Bristol, and a collaboration with electrophysiologists at Leicester (Drs N Davies and N Storey).

The Research Associate will be expected to take a leading role in experimental design and determining the direction of the program in line with reaching the research goals of the research project.

In order to apply, you will need to have a PhD (or be close to completing a PhD) in a subject relevant to this research area. You will also need evidence of research productivity (e.g. research publications in peer reviewed journals, presentations, etc), experience in protein crystallography and/or cryo-EM and extensive experience of recombinant protein purification, preferably with E. coli, mammalian and insect cell protein expression.
