The aim of this EPSRC-funded project is to develop new phosphorescent metal complexes for organic light emitting devices (OLEDs). The synthetic part of the project will be supervised by Dr Valery N. Kozhevnikov at Northumbria University in close collaboration with groups of Professor J. A. Gareth Williams and Dr Fernando Dias at Durham University.

The researcher will be responsible for the synthesis of a variety of polypyridine-type ligands and their metal complexes. Candidates should have a PhD in chemistry and ideally postdoctoral experience in synthetic heterocyclic chemistry. Previous experience in photophysics of metal complexes would be advantageous but is not essential.

The post involves teaching responsibilities in the form of supervision of undergraduate laboratory classed in synthetic chemistry.

The position is available from 1st March 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, for one year in the first instance, with a possibility of extension for a second and third year.
