The University of Bristol are looking to appoint a highly motivated, pro-active and HE-experienced legal contracts professional to join the University’s Research Contracts Team as a senior level contracts specialist. You must be able to work independently, and as part of a highly professional and busy team drafting, reviewing, and negotiating, contracts that are often complex or strategically important to the University and involving a wide range of stakeholders.

A good understanding of the HE sector is essential – particularly from a research-centric perspective - as is a controlled ‘can do’ approach, while a broad range of business skills and experience drawn from working in relevant roles across the public and private sector is highly desirable to better inform negotiations. Important attributes of the successful candidate will be confidence and ability to communicate effectively, together with a highly-tuned understanding of how to achieve satisfactory conclusions in an efficient, cooperative, and timely manner.

Note: This new post is part-funded by NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (BNSSG CCG). The CCG gains Research Capability Funding (RCF) from the Department of Health & Social Care from hosting NIHR research grants which are delivered in association with the University. The review and negotiation of NIHR award and collaboration agreements forms an important part of the post holder’s job, and where the post holder will effectively represent interests of both CCG and University.
