About the Role
Based in our College of Engineering and Science, and reporting to the Head of Built Environment, the Lecturer in Building Surveying will be expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort, particularly in the broad areas of Building Surveying, Construction Management, and Building Design. This position will teach into both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University, as well as supervising Honours, and higher degree students, and having some supervisory responsibilities for sessional staffing. It is expected that the Lecturer in Building Surveying will participate in, or undertake activities that enhance student learning and engagement to improve the quality, innovation and the evidence-base of teaching in the University. This role will meet the educational needs of the students, and provide an appropriate level of support required for students from a range of demographic subgroups.
About the Person
You will possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively in a collaborative environment, but will also be able to work independently with strong results. You are someone who likes to ensure they are kept up to date with current best practice and ideas, as well as consistently upskilling yourself and honing your abilities. You will have a strong commitment to student centred learning and teaching methods and should hold a PhD in Building Surveying or related discipline. You will preferably be a member of a relevant professional body and ideally will have somewhat recent industry experience to harness in your teaching.
