At TU Dresden, Faculty of Business and Economics, the position of a

Chair (W3) of Economics, esp. International Economics

is be filled as soon as possible. The successful candidate will conduct research and teach in the area of International Economics and engage in academic self-administration. She/He will offer courses in the Bachelor and Masters programs of the Faculty of Business and Economics and the School of International Studies, in particular the economic specialization “Financial Economics and Global Markets”. We also expect the successful candidate to cooperate actively with both the faculty and other disciplines, e.g. Political Science and Law. In accordance with the focus of the faculty and the Economics group, the candidate is expected to engage in applied research in International Trade, based on both theoretical and empirical findings. Welcome topics are, among others, International Trade under Imperfect Competition, Outsourcing and Offshoring, Trade and the Environment, Globalisation and Development, International Trade Policy and Agreements and International Political Economy. 

The ideal candidate has an outstanding international research record in the field, demonstrated by publications in relevant scientific journals. Experience in acquisition of external funding is desirable. We expect the successful candidate to be ready to promote young researchers. Profound teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer courses in English are required. Proficiency of the German language is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire language skills sufficient to conduct teaching and administrative tasks within three years after appointment. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Higher Education Act of the Free State of Saxony – SächsHSFG)
