The School of Computing, Engineering and Intelligent Systems based on the Magee campus provides students with professionally relevant degrees to help graduates secure employment in a highly skilled Computing and Engineering Sector. The School has developed strong industrial links in both teaching and research and seeks industrial input across all courses and research areas. This has helped to foster excellent employability opportunities for our graduates. The School has core teaching competencies at undergraduate level in the areas of Computer Science; Artificial Intelligence; Information Technologies; Embedded technologies; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Renewable Energy Engineering. At postgraduate level, courses are available in Professional Software Development and Data Science.

There are two research centres within the School. The Intelligent Systems Research Centre (ISRC) collaborates with other international centres of excellence to conduct multi-disciplinary research. This centre hosts the Northern Ireland Functional Brain Mapping Facility and is the centre of operations for the Cognitive Analytics Research Laboratory with is an Ulster University wide initiative focused on exploiting the centre’s 20-year track record of research excellence into neuro-inspired cognitive analytics, machine learning and computational intelligence. The Centre for Engineering and Renewable Energy (CERE) provides complimentary engineering expertise in advanced manufacturing, materials sciences, and mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering.

The post holder will support the delivery of key areas of teaching and research in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Mechanical Science for Machine Design.
