Job description

The School of Medicine is developing a Vision Sciences provision area, and an expansion of the capacity is necessary. As the Vision Sciences provision develops and expands, there is a need for staff to assist in the development and delivery of the programme.

The School wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing to support the development of the Vision Sciences educational provision, quality assurance, and assessment of credit bearing courses in this area.

The successful candidate will have experience of teaching in Higher Education alongside experience of commercial CPD/CET delivery. Registration with the General Optical Council as an optometrist is essential as well as a good honours degree, high degree/qualification or equivalent in a relevant area and significant post-registration experience.

The successful candidate will have a flexible and innovative approach to teaching. They will have excellent presentation, communication skills and organisation/ project management skills.
