Dean and Professor of School of Communication [Ref: Dean (SCOM) 2018-11-17]

The School of Communication currently offers two degree programmes; namely, Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) (with 2 concentrations: Business Journalism and Corporate Communication) and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology.  A new Programme, Master of Arts in Strategic Communication, will be launched in the academic year 2019-20.  The School is a pioneer in offering a unique degree programme that combines journalism/communication with business.  It provides state-of-the-art facilities to give students hands-on training and practical experience.  The aim is to provide students with not just professional knowledge and skills but also creative and critical thinking, life-long learning abilities, and an international outlook, so that they can become competent professionals and responsible leaders in the industry.

The appointee should have an outstanding international academic standing in the discipline, relevant academic leadership experience, and impactful contributions to the profession and the community.

The Deanship appointment will be for an initial term of 3 years, renewal subject to performance assessment and mutual agreement.  The successful candidate will be a member of the senior management team and is expected to provide visionary leadership in effecting the objectives of the School, covering student admission, programme developments and accreditations, teaching and learning, research developments, and external partnerships and services.
