POLICY MANAGER (POLITICAL ECONOMY AND GOVERNANCE)Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)-Policy and Communications Group, to contribute to J-PAL’s mission of promoting evidence-informed policy.  The Policy and Communications Group plays a key role in translating research by J-PAL affiliates into actionable poverty alleviation policies around the world. Staff connect the dots between economics and policy and are passionate about working with organizations to inform development policy.  J-PAL’s Political Economy and Governance (PEG) sector works to identify policies and programs that improve service delivery and make governments more responsive to citizens’ needs. A particular focus is given to increasing citizens’ participation in the political and policy process, reducing corruption and leakages, and building state capacity to deliver services.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED master’s degree in economics, public policy, or closely related field that included coursework in microeconomics, econometrics, and development economics; at least five years’ relevant work experience that includes at least one year working in a developing country; successful track record of managing junior staff; comfort learning computer applications, including Salesforce; detail-orientation; strong writing and strategic thinking skills; understanding of and ability to communicate policy lessons from technical academic research in ways that policymakers and practitioners understand; ability to handle multiple projects at once with little supervision, meet deadlines, and effectively manage time as well as others; and self-motivation. Must enjoy working in teams and managing others. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about international development policy and the rigorous research that informs it.  Knowledge of Spanish, French, or other languages a plus.  Job #16790
