Casual or Sessional Teaching Staff in Japanese Studies

The Japanese Studies stream is seeking a casual tutor who can teach upper beginners Japanese communication courses. We are also interested in tutors who may be able teach other levels of Japanese in addition to introductory courses.
The Japanese stream at UNSW provides students with an excellent understanding of the Japanese language, culture and society. Link to UNSW Handbook

Applicants must meet the following selection criteria:
- Be an Australian citizen/permanent resident
- Have experiences in teaching Japanese communication at a higher educational institution.
- Be capable of teaching any course level.
- Be willing to collaborate with other academics in team teaching
- Be a native or non-native speaker of Japanese who is highly proficient in all forms of communication in both Japanese and English.
Preference will be given to applicants who can provide evidence of high teaching quality, of a preparedness to engage in professional development and of a collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
Current Higher Degree Research candidates (MA Research or PhD) are encouraged to apply to teach in the undergraduate stream. For HDR students, expectations with regard to teaching experience will be considered subject to opportunity. For current HDR candidates at UNSW, they should be between 1 and 3 years (full time enrolment) in candidature in 2018.

To be considered for casual teaching in 2018-2019, applications must be received by 30 November 2018. Please note that the immediate result of a successful application in response to this call for Expressions of Interest will be their inclusion within a pool of eligible teachers to be called on as required, not an offer of employment. Please note that any teaching roles required for a particular course in a given teaching session may range from tutoring through to full course coordination, lecturing and tutoring.
All employment details, including the duties required, duration of employment and relevant pay rates, will be confirmed with the successful applicant(s) prior to the commencement of duty.
