Aston Law School, a constituent part of Aston Business School, has a distinctive mission – the provision of commercially intelligent legal education and research – reflecting our position in a leading international business school and in a university focused on maximising the employability of its students and impact of its research. We currently offer two qualifying law degrees and also deliver law modules across a wide range of business and management programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We have ambitious expansion plans, including the launch of a new LLM programme, and are now seeking to recruit a Lecturer to support these plans by providing additional teaching, research and enterprise expertise in the area of Public Law.
An ability to contribute to teaching Constitutional and Administrative Law is essential. The ability to offer other legal subjects is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will have a track record of, or potential for, strong research (appropriate to career stage) and a well-developed plan of research that covers the remaining period of the REF cycle and beyond. They will also be committed to excellent teaching and outstanding student support.
As a growing Law School we offer a friendly, supportive and vibrant community of legal scholars embedded in a world-leading business faculty.
The post is available at grade 8 or 9 on a full- or part-time basis.
The minimum period for which initial appointments are made is normally five years. However, the normal expectation is that Lecturers will transfer to a continuing appointment during this period on demonstrating acceptable performance in their research, teaching and other duties.
