Faculty / Directorate 

The School of Computer Science and Informatics is based within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. It offers a wide range of courses to other undergraduates and postgraduates in line with emergent demand and the nature of these fast-moving, competitive disciplines. We have a solid track record of ground-breaking research and in REF2014, nearly 60% of the School's research was considered to be world leading or internationally excellent. As a subject, Computer Science is ranked 309/500 in the Shanghai Ranking of Universities. Alongside the university as a whole, we have huge ambitions for the future in terms of our offering to students and the quality and scale of our research.

Ideal Candidate  

The successful applicant is expected to provide faculty-wide strategic management and leadership to the research and innovation within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. As a member of the Faculty Executive, the successful applicant will contribute to the development and implementation of the Faculty's research and innovation agenda and set priorities for future developments in research, innovation as well as doctoral students. The Associate Dean Research & Innovation will be working closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Associate Directors and relevant Theme Boards and committees to contribute to DMU's Research and Innovation Strategy and take the lead role in developing research in the Faculty through developing research-active staff, students, and appropriate funding for research. A critical part of the role will be to provide leadership to the Faculty for it's Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission, working collaboratively with research leaders and unit coordinators across the university.
