Faculty / Directorate
The School of Computer Science and Informatics is based within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. It offers a wide range of courses to other undergraduates and postgraduates in line with emergent demand and the nature of these fast-moving, competitive disciplines. We have a solid track record of ground-breaking research and in REF2014, nearly 60% of the School's research was considered to be world leading or internationally excellent. As a subject, Computer Science is ranked 309/500 in the Shanghai Ranking of Universities. Alongside the university as a whole, we have huge ambitions for the future in terms of our offering to students and the quality and scale of our research.

The successful applicant is expected to provide leadership to the research,
external income generation and teaching of DMU's newly created Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI). The IAI comprises the established Centre for
Computational Intelligence (CCI) and the De Montfort University
Interdisciplinary Group in Intelligent Transport Systems (DIGITS). The
research interests in the IAI comprises Computational Intelligence, Fuzzy
Logic, Grey Systems, Optimisation, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and
Neural Networks with applications to Crowd Modelling, Supply Chain
modelling, Intelligent Transport Systems, Gaze tracking and Data Analytics for user behaviours.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead the Institute for Artificial
Intelligence and work with School of Computer Science, the Directors of the Cyber Technology Institute, the Centre for Computing and Social
Responsibility, to develop an outstanding external profile for research in
artificial intelligence with strong impact on local businesses and established industry partners.
