FINANCE ASSOCIATENuclear Science and Engineering (part-time, 30 hrs/wk.), to support the research mission of the department by carrying out financial operations and supporting its systems and operational needs. Will work with the senior financial administrator on managing $7-10 million in annual research volume administered by the department, and provide direct support to principal investigators for proposal preparation and post-award financial management.  Duties include budget preparation and management, preparing monthly financial reports, monitoring grant terms for compliance, gathering data and preparing reports requested by sponsors, working with the Office of Sponsored Programs and other MIT offices, and generally ensuring the smooth flow of financial operations.  Will work under the supervision of the senior financial administrator.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  at least three years of financial experience in an academic office environment; strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to plan, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines; willingness to assume responsibility and take initiative while working within a team; and in-depth knowledge of Excel and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications. A bachelor’s degree and experience with KUALI COEUS, Cognos, and SAP are preferred.  Grant proposal development and fiscal research management experience would be a plus. MIT experience is strongly desired.  Job #16781-5
