LEGAL ASSISTANT, Office of the General Counsel (OGC), to provide legal administrative assistance to five attorneys. Responsibilities include intensive calendar management and meeting planning; drafting and revising correspondence and creating documents and forms; anticipating and meeting deadlines; organizing and tracking matters and documents in electronic document management system; keeping records and legal files; conducting basic legal research; generating reports and presentations in various formats (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); handling special projects; representing the OGC to internal/external stakeholders; developing and maintaining excellent relationships with staff and leadership at all levels of MIT, clients, the public, outside law firms, and other contacts; scheduling travel and events; ordering supplies; and providing other support as needed. Will work primarily with the specific attorneys assigned, but will also perform some additional office-wide tasks in support of all the attorneys and the OGC.
REQUIRED: a minimum of five years’ experience, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal office; initiative and ability to complete projects independently; familiarity with procedures related to courts and administrative agencies; ability to independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed work in a busy office environment with minimal supervision; ability to troubleshoot, meet strict deadlines, and manage a high volume of work with speed and efficiency; accuracy and attention to detail; a collaborative work style; writing, editing, and proofreading proficiency; and proficiency with MS Office programs. Must exhibit tact and good judgment in handling confidential and potentially sensitive information and relationships.
