Working within the Aerodynamics Research Group, you will be part of an international team of fluid dynamicists working on the conceptual and preliminary design of a novel air intake for a future more-electric aircraft. With your knowledge of particle transport and aerodynamics, you will perform a concept study and trade-off analysis to design a particle separation system to be installed in the fresh-air intake of an Electrical Environmental Control System, currently being trialled on a future more-electric commercial transport aircraft.

The system validation will include experimental analysis of a design prototype which will take place in the aerodynamics laboratories in the School of MACE. You will apply your creativity and skills in experimental aerodynamics and CFD to develop solutions that demonstrably meet the top level user needs. Full-time contract length will be 24 months, during which you will publish your findings in world leading journals and represent the research group at international conferences.
